Boil water advisory for Keats Island

A boil water notice has been issued for the residents who are on the Eastbourne water system on Keats Island.

Vancouver Coastal Health says the boil water advisory was put in place after tests showed high total coliform counts.

VCH also says the advisory will give the operator a chance to flush out and chlorinate their lines and they’ll continue to work with SCRD to resolve the issue.

no E. coli has been detected and the advisory will be lifted when further testing shows reduced total coliform counts.

The health authority believes due to the number of seasonal residents on Keats Island, the impact on the public is expected to be quite restricted.
