The Nanaimo RCMP handed out a hefty fine and impounded a car for 7 days after a motorist was caught driving in excess of 60 kilometers per hour over the posted speed limit.
The incident happened last Thursday RCMP Municipal Traffic Services were conducting speed monitoring on Highway 19 at Ware Road.
The posted speed limit was 80 and the motorist was clocked doing 143 kilometers per hour.
The driver was issued with a 483 fine and associated points and the vehicle was impounded.
Mounties are reminding drivers to obey the posted speed limit, especially as winter approaches with shorter hours of daylight and potentially poorer road conditions.
