Fuel spill at Langdale

BC Ferries is apologizing for the delays and cancellations that impacted its customers on Sunday.

On route three the ferry was running about an hour behind at one point and two sailings were also cancelled that day.

“A commercial truck was involved in an accident on the ferry’s main car deck while trying to discharge from the vessel at Langdale,” said BC Ferries Spokesperson Deborah Marshall.

“It caught one its legs on the apron of the ramp. That caused a diesel fuel tank to rupture. There were approximately 50 litres of fuel that was spilled into the ocean from this commercial vehicle.”

An oil spill response team was sent out to this incident by BC Ferries.
