Voting day Saturday

Tomorrow is the day to exercise your democratic rights and influence the future of your community.

It is general election voting day across the province.

Polls are generally open from 8 to 8.

On the Sunshine Coast you can vote for mayoral and council candidates in the District of Sechelt at the Royal Canadian Legion, at Davis Bay Elementary School or at West Sechelt Elementary School.

School trustees in the Central area have all been acclaimed, so there won’t be any boxes on the ballot to mark off in the District of Sechelt.

In Gibsons, you can cast a ballot at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.

Those ballots will have four mayoral choices, 8 council candidates to choose from and four candidates to choose from for school district trustees.

In the SCRD, it will depend upon what area you live to determine where you vote, but you can find the list of polling stations at mycoastnow.com, under the news tab, go to elections 2018.

In the Sunshine Coast Regional District, the Electoral Area B candidate was acclaimed for Halfmoon Bay as were the trustees so there’s no need to head to the polls there.

Electoral Area A voters, in Egmont, Pender Harbour, won’t be checking off any boxes for trustees either, as Samantha Haines was acclaimed but there is a three-way race for a Board candidate.

On the other side of the Strait, in Nanaimo there are eleven polling locations and one on Protection Island where you can cast a ballot.

In the Regional District of Nanaimo, the polls, are also listed on our website for each electoral area, at my coast now dot com.

Two trustees in the RDN were acclaimed but there are 20 school trustee candidates running for 9 seats.
