Voting for the civic elections begins next week

Advance polls open for the civic elections next Wednesday.

In the Regional District of Nanaimo the chief election officer, Peter Crawford says it’s hard to say how busy the polls will be.

That’s because of the variety of populations in each of the Districts, but also because in some Districts the candidates have been acclaimed.

Those are in C and E, so those voters will only be choosing trustees on the ballot.

Districts A, B, F. G, and H will be choosing from a couple of candidates each but those that are in School District 69 won’t have to choose from trustees because they have been acclaimed.

The polls will be open for any district at the RDN Administration Building and there are four other polling stations open for specific electoral areas.

You can find out where they are on the RDN’s website.

There will be a second advance voting opportunity on October 17th and the general election is on Saturday, October 20th.

You can also participate in an advance poll for the City of Nanaimo next Wednesday and again on the 17th.

It’s at the Bowen Park Auditorium.

The advance polls are open from 8 to 8.
