Decision in Gabriola murder trial due in two weeks

A decision is expected later this month in the trial of a man accused of killing a Gabriola Island woman in 2011.

50 year old Elaine Schwartz was stabbed to death at her home on the Island.  Her son was also attacked and badly injured.

Jason Cramer is charged with both crimes.

During his trial in Nanaimo last week the arguments focused not on whether he did it, but whether he should be held criminally responsible for his actions.

Schwartz’s murder shocked the close-knit community and sparked a complete lock-down of Gabriola and an Island-wide manhunt.
