Four candidates for Mayor’s race in Gibsons

What was once a one-person race for the position of Mayor in Gibsons has become a four-person race.

After Silas White withdrew his candidacy, four different people have submitted their nomination packages to the town.

The nomination period which officially ended tonight saw the likes of Bills Beamish, Blake MacLeod, William Moysey and Leslie Thompson throw their hats into the ring.
“Nothing will be official until the end of this week,” said Wendy Lee, Gibsons’ Chief Election Officer.

“Four nominations have been approved and accepted but there’s a challenge period. So that will be over at 4 o’clock on Friday, September 28th. Nomination challenges don’t happen often but they have been used before.”

She adds the next date voters should remember is October 10th because that’s the first advanced voting opportunity for Gibsons residents.
