Plenty of rain expected over the next few days, and wind too

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Sunshine Coast.

The first of a pair of Pacific disturbances has arrived on the south coast of BC, bringing heavy rain to Vancouver Island.

Rain is forecast to spread throughout the inner south coast by this evening.

Brisk southeast winds are also in the forecast and drought-stressed trees could see a lot of damage.

Rainfall amounts of near 30 millimeters are expected from the first disturbance by tomorrow (Fri) morning then there will be a break and then a second system, Saturday morning will see another 30 millimeters of rainfall.

The highest rainfall amounts are expected over the North Shore of Metro Vancouver, Howe Sound and parts of East Vancouver Island.
