Paving is set to start this Thursday on twenty-three kilometres of Highway 19 between Parksville and Courtenay.
The right lanes in both directions will be resurfaced using hot-in-place paving that recycles the existing asphalt material.
The project, which is expected to be done by mid-October, will fix bumpy conditions, uneven patches and pot holes along the stretch of road.
