The community consultation for Sunshine Coast Community Forest is over with and more than 500 residents provided their feedback.
“The district helped and organized some world cafes and reached out to the community about Community Forest,” said Julie Rogers, Communications Manager with the District of Sechelt.
“During the consultation, some common themes were brought up. People wanted to see an increased awareness of legacy funds and how they and apply to those. and residents want to assure local forests are being used as much as possible to leverage local economic development and job creation opportunities.”
Other common feedback that was brought up included ensuring there are better environmental protections in place and also better community involvement and education.
