Qualicum School District trustees have voted to close 3 elementary schools: Parksville, Qualicum, and French Creek.
Winchelsea will also stop accepting K-12 students, but it will remain in use by the District for the alternate school and some District resource offices.
Talking to Coast News earlier this week Board Chair Lynette Kershaw said years of declining enrollment and a looming budget shortfall had put the District in a position where school closures were one of the only options left.
