Tilray open for business

Tilray’s online store is now open and the first shipment of medical marijuana left the facility on Monday afternoon. The Nanaimo-based company celebrated their official launch on Monday, April 28. President Brendan Kennedy says getting to this point has been an interesting journey.

Kennedy escorted a group on a tour of the state-of-the-art facility. He says their vault can store about $30 million worth of marijuana and they’re still in the process of finishing construction on 30 grow rooms.

Kennedy says about 60 people are currently working for Tilray and they’re still hiring.

Philippe Lucas, Vice President of Patient Research and Services, says they’re proud to be one of only a few Licensed Producers in Canada.

Lucas says their biggest challenge now will be educating the medical community about the benefits of medical marijuana. He says they’re developing a program to help educate doctors about the effects of cannabis, how to use it and how to help patients.
