A rare opportunity over the weekend for volunteer firefighters in Gibsons.
They got to do some training by burning an old house to the ground.
Assistant Chief Graham Webb says the chance to do “live fire” training was timely because they’ve got a lot of new recruits right now. He also says burning the house to the ground Sunday was the last stage in several months of training they’d been doing in the building
Webb says developers looking to build new on a property often offer to donate buildings, but not all of them are suitable for training.
