It’s tempting to start a little camp or beach fire during this time but it could have severe consequences.
Trevor Pike, Chief of the Sechelt Fire Department says with the current fire danger rating and fire ban on you have to be extra cautious or you could cause a wildfire.
Pike says the only things are really allowed at this time is propane or briquette barbeques.
If you have a propane campfire ring, the fire is not allowed to be higher than 6 inches.
Hefty fines will be handed out if you’re caught breaking these rules.
Smith says with the expected heatwave in the new few weeks, the fire danger rating could go up to extreme, which is the highest rating.
