Police are looking into an incident on Highway 19, near Dumont Road that left one motorcyclist dead.
Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien says around 10:00 last night (Friday, July 13th) they responded to a fatal motorcycle accident after a young driver drove into the back of an SUV and tragically died at the scene last night.
The highway didn’t reopen until 4:30 this morning and the investigation is ongoing at this point.O’Brien says alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors but they are looking at other contributing factors that could have caused this accident.
Victim services have been advised the name or the age of the deceased is not being released at this time.
