Since the Town of Gibsons launched their weekly organic waste pick-up program in April lots of waste is being diverted from the Sechelt dump.
Dave Douglas, Gibsons’ Director of Finance says lots of garbage is being diverted from the Sechelt dump.
Douglas says there are still residents who are looking to opt-out of the program.
Douglas says some residents who applied to opt-out of the program were turned down.
He says their staff found the common reason to turn people away was due to their lack of options to deal with cooked food scraps and meat scraps.
