The Mayoral race in Sechelt is heating up.
Although we’re still months away from the municipal election, two members of the current council have announced their intentions to run as Mayor.
Bruce Milne is looking to become Mayor again for the fourth time.
“After having a long talk with the community, I realized their support is still there,” says Milne.
“Even though it has been challenging, there is still much work to do to make sure that what we started doing in 2014 is in place, not just for the short term but for the long term as well.”
Milne says despite some criticism from community members about how slow growth has been in the community, he believes that’s not the case.
“When you think about $43 million in building permits in 2017, that gives you some sense that we’re not holding back the development industry.”
Councillor Darnelda Siegers is the other council member who announced her intentions to run as Mayor during a council meeting last year.
The election will be held on October 20th.
