The Town of Gibsons will have a new Mayor after this year’s election.
Current Mayor Wayne Rowe who has been Mayor for the last two terms will be stepping down.
Rowe says when he first ran for office he had no intentions of staying on for longer than three terms and he’s following through with that plan.
Rowe adds he’s proud of what the council were able to get done during his time as an elected official but there are also some disappointments.
He says he would have liked to see the proposed long-term health care facility by VCH to be built in Gibsons, which in his opinion would have been a major asset for the community.

Rowe says it has been a privilege to serve the community and he has some advice for anyone who wants to become the next Mayor of the town.
