Creepy, but no one was hurt

RCMP is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who broke into several parked vehicles and suites occupied by seniors at a local seniors care facility in central Nanaimo.
Mounties say the incident was reported when one of the residents woke in the morning and realized someone had been in her room during the night and had rummaged through her belongings.
Video surveillance shows a masked suspect broke into several vehicles in the parking lot, and then gained access to the suites by climbing through unlocked ground level windows.
The incident happened in the early morning hours last Friday but details about the location of the care facility are not being released for privacy and safety reasons.

The suspect was wearing a dark coloured balaclava which covered his face, dark clothing, and a black hoodie, with white lettering on the front.
Of note was his left hand which was covered in a cast and his pinky finger and ring finger were also wrapped in a bandage.
The care facility is reviewing their security features and working with residents to ensure ground level windows are kept locked at all times.
It is unknown at this time what was taken but it appears the thief may have made off with a small amount of costume jewelry.

If you have information on the incident, call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
