Sunshine Coast RCMP are warning of another scam.
Police say an area resident recently gave out sensitive information, including her Social Insurance Number and a credit card number, when she was tricked by a e-mail claiming to be from a “Government Gateway Account”.
The e-mail told her she needed to enter the information to collect a tax refund.
RCMP say they woman realized she’d been scammed when she learned from her accountant that her tax return hadn’t been filed.
Oceanside RCMP issued a similar warning of scams tied to tax season last week.
