Big issues up for discussion at Nanaimo forum

Pipelines, tanker traffic, and incinerators have many concerned about the future of the Salish Sea.

Those controversial issues will be the focus of a community forum Wednesday night at the Beban Park Social Centre.

Islands Trust Chair Sheila Malcolmson is emceeing the event.

She says the timing is interesting, given Nanaimo Council’s recent decision to come out against a proposed incinerator following a public outcry.  She also says there’s a lesson in it.

The speakers at the “Save The Salish Sea” event will include the Georgia Strait Alliance’s Alexandra Woodsworth and Caitlyn Vernon from Sierra Club BC.
