It’s a long standing problem on the Sunshine Coast.
People who can only get to their lots by water need somewhere for cars, and often boat trailers. Some park at the roadside, others rent spots at commercial properties or have informal deals.
Now some Sakinaw Lake property owners are asking the Regional District to rezone a lot near a boat ramp for use as a parking lot. People opposed to the idea say it would be a dangerous precedent.
James Green speaks for the owners. He told the SCRD’s planning committee they’re not asking for anything that’s not already allowed – just a more formal and permanent arrangement
A public hearing on the application is set for May 7th.
