Long road ahead for Catalyst

Catalyst Paper is now facing combined duties of more than 28 per cent.
Nanaimo/North Cowichan MLA, Doug Routley says those involved in discussions about the dutiesĀ are confident, in the long run, the challenge to the tariffs will be successful, but it’s going to be a “long run” before a decision is made……
The Premier,Ā Geen PartyĀ leader Andrew Weaver, opposition leader Andrew Wilkinson, representatives from Catalyst, local MLAs, mayors and representatives from Unifor, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology and Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development metĀ to hear first-hand the impact of the case yesterday (Thurs).
Routley says they talked aboutĀ how to best work together to protect the workers that depend on the industry and those discussions included putting pressure on the Federal Government to make some of the resources used in the softwood lumber dispute available to fight Canada’s efforts to overturn the tariff on paper products.
