Vaccine available for pet rabbits

Rabbits have tested positive for haemorrhagic disease in half a dozen locations in B.C. including in Nanaimo and Parksville.

They’ve been dying by the 100’s and the disease is causing concern among pet rabbit owners.

Now, the first batch of vaccines to protect pet rabbits from the disease has arrived from Europe.

The vaccines are being distributed to 50 B.C. veterinary clinics that ordered it and to meet the remaining demand, a second batch of the vaccine is expected in early May.

There is NO threat to humans or other domestic animals.
