Spoiler alert! BC Ferries expecting extra traffic for long weekend

We’re heading into a long weekend; with the predictable upswing in traffic on BC Ferries.

Darin Guenette of BC Ferries says Easter is an unusual long weekend for them, because some people get 4 days off and some 3, and that can spread the traffic around.  Although it will start to build Thursday afternoon and be busiest on Monday heading from the Sunshine Coast and the Island back to the Lower Mainland.

Guenette also recommends people consider the Duke Point – Tsawwassen route, which tends to see less traffic.  It also has sailings earlier and later i the day than the other Island routes.

BC Ferries is not adding any extra trips on that run, but the company is adding 9 extra sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Nanaimo and 2 on the Langdale route.
