Housing Hub aims to facilitate affordable housing projects

The Province is providing 20 million dollars to establish a HousingHub.
The Hub will bring local governments, Indigenous partners, the non-profit sector and developers together to create homes people throughout B.C. can afford.
Four projects have been proposed already by the B.C. Conference of the United Church of Canada, three on the mainland and one in Nanaimo.
Shayne Ramsay, CEO of BC Housing says 12 million dollars is available for those four projects but the Hub will take an active role in future projects….
The hub’s focus will be on developing homes for people with average incomes between 50,000 and 100,000 dollars.

The Nanaimo site is the Brechin United Church on Estevan Road.  Construction on that project is expected to begin in June of this year and it will be for people with incomes ranging between just over 28,000 and 82,000 dollars.  Rental rates for the project are projected to be between 700 and 2,000 dollars.
