Good Samaritans come to the rescue after car rolls in Nanaimo

Two drivers went above and beyond the call of duty when they helped a family involved in a frightening crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Nanaimo. Constable Gary O’Brien says a mother was driving with her two young sons in the car around 1:30pm when she lost control near the intersection of Morden Rd. The car clipped the black of a logging truck and flipped over.

O’Brien says the mother and one child managed to get out of the car, but the other child was still trapped. That’s when two men, including 45-year-old Chris Moore from Chemainus, leapt into action.

He says it was very brave of the men to risk their own safety to help the family.

The mother was kept overnight at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for observation. The investigation is continuing.
