Ticket and fine for red light runner who caused accident that left baby trapped under car

Nanaimo RCMP say the driver who ran a red light yesterday, hitting a mother pushing a stroller, is facing a steep fine, but no criminal charges.

The incident prompted a dramatic rescue.  Quick thinking bystanders lifted the car to free the six month old, who was trapped underneath in the stroller.

The child spent the night at Nanaimo Regional General for observation. The mother suffered a few scrapes and bruises.

The 21 year old man driving the car was ticketed for driving without due attention, which carries a $368  fine.
