Nanaimo RCMP say the driver who ran a red light yesterday, hitting a mother pushing a stroller, is facingĀ a steep fine, but no criminal charges.
The incident prompted aĀ dramatic rescue.Ā Quick thinking bystanders liftedĀ the car to freeĀ the six month old, who wasĀ trappedĀ underneath in theĀ stroller.
The child spent the night at Nanaimo Regional General for observation. The mother suffered a few scrapes and bruises.
The 21 year old man driving the car was ticketed for driving without due attention, which carries a $368Ā fine.
