Qualicum RCMP had to use a spike belt to stop a pair from speeding off in a stolen vehicle.
The incident began when the pair were spotted by police around 11 last Tuesday night on a forest service road in Qualicum Beach.
They were in a car police knew was stolen, but when officers attempted to stop the suspects, the driver of the car struck the patrol car before speeding off.
Police reported the direction of travel of the stolen vehicle and Mounties were able to lay down a spike belt on Highway 19 in Parksville.
The car came to a stop in a ditch after hitting the belt and both suspects were arrested.
