Nanaimo CAO facing criminal charges

The BC Prosecution Service is confirming, that following an investigation by their office, they’ve made an application to have the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Nanaimo bound by terms of a peace bond.

The application is not a charge but will go before the court which will ask Tracy Samra to abide by certain terms.

Those could include that she agree to keep the peace, and other, more specific conditions could be imposed.

Samra is due to make her first court appearance next Tuesday.

If she agrees by the conditions it could be for a period of not more than 12 months.

If she doesn’t agree with the application for a peace bond the issue will be set for a hearing.

The application for a peace bond relates to an incident at City Hall in Nanaimo which resulted in the arrest of Samra as a result of allegations of uttering threats.
