Homeless eviction appears to be working

The homeless encampment on the lawn at Nanaimo City Hall is slowly coming down.
Karen Fry, head of Nanaimo’s Bylaw Services, says there were portable washroom facilities set up for the homeless and some used needle receptacles and at the moment it’s hard to say what kind of clean up will be needed……
Fry says the homeless were served with an eviction notice Tuesday afternoon and if there are some stragglers there are some options for the City……
Fry says there are other places where the homeless can erect their tents in Nanaimo…..
However, where the tents can be set up is restricted……
The organizers of the homeless camp say the protest was a success because it highlighted the homeless problem in the city.
Council had met some of their demands when they approved 350,000 dollars in funding to deal with homeless issues.
