Packed house for meeting with Adrian Dix

BC’s Health Minister believes the current proposal for a 128 long-term care facility is a good one.

Adrian Dix who met with a large crowd in Sechelt this week says the province was left with a contract that the public is not happy with and he believes since the NDP got voted in, the proposal has changed for the better.

No promises were made at the meeting but Dix says he’s willing to look into the idea of opening up the new health care facility as well as keep Shorncliffe and Totem Lodge open.

Dix also notes that the province would not be willing to rip up that contract between Vancouver Coastal Health and Trellis, which didn’t sit well with people who were hoping to see a publically operated facility.

Protect Public Healthcare Sunshine Coast is one of the groups that’s not happy with how the meeting with BC’s Health Minister went this week.

Ian McLatchie believes some of the questions that were raised were stronger than the answers.

McLatchie says they’re going to continue campaigning with the same priorities as they feel that nothing major has changed when it comes to the private long-term care facility proposal for the Sunshine Coast.
