Sechelt wants plastic films out of its recycling

The District of Sechelt is asking its residents to keep plastic films out of the recycling bins.

Paul Appelt with the District they have been accepted for Recycle BC’s program and they don’t allow things such as plastic bags from grocery stores to be collected curbside.

Appelt says if you need to get rid of the plastic, you can take it to Salish Soils.

He adds China has changed their standards for accepting recyclables and that is changing how people recycle worldwide because China is the biggest customer.
