Donovan Penner has pled guilty to second degree murder.
He’s the man RCMP arrested in relation to the death of 67 year old Denise “Esme” Lachance back in October of 2014.
The trial for the 47 year old man, who is Lachance’s son started back on February 13th and on Monday, he pled guilty to second degree murder.
Police say the guilty plea speaks to the hard work and dedication of all the agencies involved including the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, the support from the Sunshine Coast RCMP and the partnership with crown counsel.
Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT says he’s hoping the result will bring some closure to the family and friends of Lachance.

Sentencing is scheduled for Monday.
