Sechelt poised to approve "bridge financing" for sewer plant

Sechelt Council will vote this week on borrowing for the wastewater treatment plant.

This isn’t the big loan that went to referendum in March, but what District officials are describing as “bridge financing” until that $7.4 million comes through.

The loan, as well as some of the grants from senior governments, won’t actually be handed over until the plant is finished.

Mayor John Henderson says the District decided to use a line of credit style loan to pay the immediate bills for the project, so they could leave reserves in the bank earning interest.

The $24-million  project remains on budget, with completion scheduled for late October.
