The NDP MLA for Powell River-Sunshine Coast says people are beginning to accept that a new care home will be privately operated.
Nic Simons says the need for new beds is just getting too urgent on the Coast…..
Simons was making the comments after the Hospital Employees Union put out a release saying a Burnaby care home has laid off 50 care aides and will be replacing them with contract workers.
He says that’s not going to be the case on the Sunshine Coast as the Health Minister, Adrian Dix has promised the existing jobs in the two care homes on the Sunshine Coast will be preserved in a new facility.
