Nanaimo snowmobiler was a member of SAR

The Nanaimo man, who died in a snowmobiling accident in Whistler on the weekend, was a member of the volunteer search and rescue organization in the Harbour City.

Nanaimo SAR has written on their Facebook page, Karl Baker was a founding member of Nanaimo Search and Rescue, an avid outdoorsman and loving family man.

The 52 year old worked with the rescue organization for 15 years, starting in the early 1990s.

RCMP say Baker was snowmobiling near Whistler when he stopped on a overhanging ledge of snow that collapsed.
