Job offer for Nanamio CAO is off the table
Tracy Samra during a council meeting in 2017.
The Sechelt First Nation has announced Nanaimo’s CAO, Tracy Samra, will not be the new Chief Administrative Officer for the First Nation.
Back on January 31st the Sechelt Council had announced she had been appointed to the position and since that time we have been waiting to see her resignation from the City of Nanaimo.
But, that didn’t happen.
Instead, the situation at Nanaimo City Hall moved to a new level when Samra was arrested for uttering threats against the mayor and a councillor.
She hasn’t been charged with anything but is now on a medical leave from her position and the incident is under investigation.
The Sechelt First Nation is reporting their council and Samra have agreed now is not the time for her to take on the responsibilities.
A new search to fill the CAO position will begin immediately.
