District says application process “typical”

The District of Sechelt is defending its position with regards to the proposed development of a new care home in the community.
Tracy Corbett, the Director of Planning and Development Services with the District of Sechelt says from the time they received the application until it got to committee stage was about 6 months…..
Trellis entered into an agreement with Vancouver Coastal Health in June of 2016 to build a new care home to replace the aging Totem Lodge and Shorncliffe.
However, they’ve been unable to move forward with the project due to, what both organizations say, are longer than anticipated development processes and has a result, have moved into talks to build the facility on Sechelt First Nation land.
