The next step in developing a Waterfront Master Plan for the City of Nanaimo is taking it back to the public.
Council has put it’s stamp of approval on the plan which includes a waterfront park, residential, mixed residential and light industrial.
Planner, Karen Kronstal says the industrial part of the project isn’t written in stone…..
The Snuneymuxw First Nation, however, has released a statement with regards to the City’s plans.
In it, the First Nation says the land was unlawfully alienated from Snuneymuxw in violation of treaty rights and that’s an issue that’s never been addressed.
Further, the First Nation says it is not appropriate at this time to approve the master plan in principle.
