Vote on closing Ladysmith schools put off 'til January

Parents worried about the future of some Ladysmith schools are going to have to wait until January.

In front of a large crowd at Ladysmith Secondary Wednesday night the SD 68 Board voted to defer their decision.

Right now the District Superintendent is recommending the closure of Ecole Davis Road in June 2014 and North Oyster Elementary in 2015.  It’s part of the same 10 Year Enhanced Facilities Plan that’s also recommending closing schools in Cedar, including Cedar Secondary.

Board Chair Dot Neary says Trustees wanted to give themselves more time to fully consider the decision, which is now set for the first regular Board meeting of the New Year.
