The Town of Ladysmith is waiting to find out whether or not they’ll get some dollars from the Federal government to clean up some derelict vessels in the harbour.
Mayor Aaron Stone says an inventory was done and an application was made to Transport Canada’s Abandoned Boats Program to remove some of the worst….
Stone says they were trying to keep their application to something that would most likely be approved unlike Victoria, he says, which applied to remove so many derelict vessels that the entire 6 point 8-5 million dollar federal Program budget would be needed to do it.
Stone says they expect to find out any day now whether or not the Ladysmith proposal will be approved.
