RTC and Upper Deck gets thumbs up from Sechelt

The District Of Sechelt is giving the green light to the Upper Deck Guesthouse to become a homeless shelter.

Council were unanimously in favour of adopting the amended bylaw and the former hostel will now be able to open their doors before Christmas, which was a goal of theirs.

Councillors said that the decision was a feel-good moment for them and they thanked their staff for moving the application through in a timely manner.

The third reading of an amended bylaw for the RTC properties development also got the thumbs up.

The vote was 4-2 as Councillor Darnelda Siegers and Doug Wright was not in favour of changing the development from 31 units to 20 units.
