Annual bird count set for Thursday in Nanaimo

Families looking for an educational and fun outdoor activity are invited to a bird watching session.
It’s sponsored by Bird Studies Canada, Nanaimo Naturekids and the City of Nanaimo.
Nanaimo’s Recreation Coordinator, Deborah Beck says there are a number of birds that can be spotted at Buttertubs Marsh….
This free family event goes on Thursday, December 28 from 10 to 1:30 at Buttertubs Marsh.
Beck says there are some things you should keep in mind if you are coming out….

After the count, teams will gather at the Miner’s Cottage off Jingle Pot Road where they will share results, warm up and build their own pine cone feeder to take home.

Those interested in attending can contact City of Nanaimo Parks and Recreation to register at 250-756-5200 or use i-reg online at www.nanaimo.ca.
