Puppy found abandoned in a box in Nanaimo

The BC SPCA is investigating after a 7 week old puppy was found in a diaper box outside Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo.
Nanaimo Branch manager, Leon Davis says the puppy was found by a woman who was walking along the path….
Davis says the puppy, who had likely been there for less than 24 hours, appeared to be in distress, was covered in urine, suffering from hypothermia and given his age, likely would not have survived much longer.
Davis says the maximum fine for abandoning an animal like this is 75,000 dollars and potentially two years in jail.
Davis says it appears the puppy will make a full recovery but the concern now is whether or not there are other puppies from the same litter in need of help.
