Mixed reaction to National Housing Strategy

The Federal Liberals rolled out their National Housing Strategy to mixed reaction locally.
It’s a 40 billion dollar plan with costs being shared by the federal government and the provinces.
John Spinelli of the Nanaimo Affordable Housing Society says the plan is short on details but, he figures, in tandem with more money for housing in the provincial budget there will be good news to come…..
Chris Beaton, of the Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre says he is happy to see affordable housing is on the federal government radar at the very least….
Cowichan-Langford-Malahat MP, Alistair MacGregor says the housing announcement is misleading because it includes 11 billion dollars that was already announced, it includes money from the private sector and money the province will be expected to contribute.
He says 90 per cent of the promised funding won’t be available until after 2019.
