Two dozen recommendations to improve City of Nanaimo processes

A significant report, by Deloitte, that looked at the City of Nanaimo’s Capital Project, Planning, Design, Delivery and Operation Processes found numerous opportunties for improvement.
The report came with two dozen recommendations for improvement.
The consultant reported a number of gaps within the various City departments related to capital planning and project management practices, especially when it’s compared to practices adopted by cities of a comparable size.
Councillor Bill Bestwick says the report results didn’t surprise him….
The City’s CAO, Tracy Samra, told council the problem isn’t just a matter of hiring experienced project managers…..
The City has 190 million dollars in planned capital projects over the next five years including a new 17 million dollar new main fire station.
