Sechelt releases more details on sewer tax rebate plan

Sechelt taxpayers in line for a rebate on a sewer parcel tax will find out how much they’re getting in May.

The District is releasing more details about the plan, which will see 70 properties refunded, because there’s no realistic chance they’ll actually get sewer service.

The properties are in West Sechelt in the areas known as A14, 15, 16 and 17.

The refund is being welcomed by the West Sechelt Community Association, which says the fee has been seen as unfair for some time.

Mayor John Henderson says they’re also going to take a fresh look at the “Sewer Functional Plan”.

That review is expected to cost about $100-thousand.

The refunds will total $241-thousand, with the maximum payout coming in at around $14-hundred.
