Police investigate possible hit and run, need witnesses

Nanaimo RCMP is asking for public help in trying to unravel an incident that left a 59 year old man unconscious.
Mounties say back on October 18th on Victoria Avenue, near the Wellington Beer and Wine Store, the man, who was walking alone, was struck in the head and knocked unconscious.

When he came to he was bleeding from a gash to the back of his head.

He was taken to hospital by paramedics where he received several stitches.
The victim, who has recovered, has no idea what caused him to lose consciousness but he did tell police he remembers hearing the sound of screeching tires.

Investigators, who have canvassed the area looking for witnesses or video surveillance have been unsuccessful, and Mounties say if no other information comes forward the investigation is at a dead end.
